Some of the new motors do not have a place to oil them so if you can not figure out a way to get oil into the bearings more than likely you will have to replace it. wmproop Aug 19, 2009, 07:29 PM probably worn out,,the bearing allow it to run free till it gets hot then it siezes up mygirlsdad77 Aug 19, 2009, 07:35 PM extremely plugged condenser coil can also cause fan to overheat and shut down. If condenser is clean, and you replaced the capacitor with correct one, then you will most likely need a new motor(unless you have oil ports as tellu suggested, then i would try oiling the motor first, but oil ports are for maintenance purposes, and if it was not oiled regularly, the bearings are most likely shot and you will need a new motor anyway).
