What is the source of most of the mass in plants?

What do you mean the source? If you mean what parts of plants have the most mass, then there is no answer, as it depends on the type of plant.

If I've misunderstood the question, please clarify.

I believe you are asking what the source or "food" to create mass comes from for a plant...

This would be the air! CO2
