Other than keeping up on especially hot days, my AC unit didn't really have any problems until now.

I turned on the AC and didn't hear the normal rush of air being pulled into the closet the unit resides in.

I opened the door only to hear a slight "rumble" every now and then...and what sounded like water going through pipes. I removed the filter and noticed a good amount of moisture along the bottom edge of the unit. The filter itself did not look to be wet that I could tell.

I left it alone until later in the nigh when I went to turn the fan on. It made that same rumble noise (stop start, not constant) and never kicked the fan on. I decided to try the AC just to see if it was still doing the same thing and this time, I got no noise at all.

I JUST replaced the outdoor unit a couple years ago, the indoor unit has been around a bit longer (6 or 7 years).

Any ideas here?

Sounds like you have a bad fan motor, or start capacitor. Causing the fan not to run and your ac to freze up giving you the water on the bottom of the furnace.

Any idea what that would mean in repair costs on average? I know, it's gonna be a wide range of costs but, any ballpark would be nice. Just paid a bunch a couple years ago to replace the outside unit.. am I looking at something similar?!

And yah..it doesn't even make a peep now. No noise, nothing. Dead

not having any idea what kinda furnace you have,,,no model numbers,wheather its gas,oil,electric,,,,,,,I would guess it will be anywhere from $200.00 to $1,000.00

Ahh..I guess that would be helpfull.. It's an Amana. It's got 2 model and serial numbers. One for the top half, one for the bottom.

Top Half
Model: BBC36A2A
Serial: 0201210754

Bottom Half

Serial: 0109180452
