I am a newly recruited Postdoc researcher at UT southwestern medical center, and I just received my offer and will go to the U.S. embassy for visa interview. I will be holding a J1 visa, and my wife plans to go to Dallas together with me holding a J2 visa, here I have a question to ask:

My wife is also a fresh PhD, and she is looking forward to find a postdoctoral position at UT southwestern medical center, if she holds a J2 visa, will it be possible for her to change the J2 visa to J1 visa or H1b visa if she could successfully find a position? Would a Tourism visa (B2 visa) be a better choice for her, consider the possibility of visa transfer?

Thank you very much!
