My question concerns making chocolate crumb crust. Most recipes call for crushing Chocolate Wafer Cookies. I have not been able to find these. My local grocery stores don't seem to carry them and I have not been able to find them doing internet search. Any help or suggestion would be appreciated. Thank H Cal

Hi Hcal....

I've dabbled a little with crusts...;)

I am assuming that a chocolate wafer cookie is a chocolate graham cracker...yes/no?? If it isn't then they sell chocolate graham crackers at most stores that should make a nice substitute here.

If your local store doesn't carry chocolate graham crackers then maybe you can pick up some regular graham crackers and make your own chocolate graham crust using regular graham crackers, cocoa, sugar and butter...see the following recipe link..;)

come to think of it I haven't seen those wafer cookies in years.


You might try using crushed oreo cookies. I often substitute them for crusts, especially cheesecake.

I found the Chocolate Grahams at Krogers and they worked great. The Chocolate Cheese cake I made turned out find, a good consistency and rick and delicious. The only problem was that while cooling in the spring form pan the cake cracked across the top. Anyone have any suggestions?

Usually that means you baked it a little too long
