I have been on birth control for 9 mo. I experience spotting for the first 3-4 months, but have not had any since. My doctor said this was normal and my body was just adjusting to the pills. Yesterday I began to spot for the first time in 5 mo. (My period is a week away) I have not missed any pills and I do not smoke. The only thing I did differently this weekend was to have a few drinks over the fourth (like 3-4...I do not normally drink). Can drinking be the culprit? Also, is it OK to have sex when I am still taking my pills, but spotting? Thanks

that sounds pretty normal. i occassionally have break though bleeding as well. my doctor told me that its common with lower dosage bc as well as a few other types. it's fine to have sex even while you're spotting. i've never heard of a few drinks throwing off anyone's cycle. i'm not an expert but i don't see anyway that it could.

i agree it sounds normal. you can talk to your doctor about it if you feel you need to, as he needs to know everything going on with your body anyway.

but i dont think you need to worrie :)
