I just purchased a repo and the ac is not working. I let it run for nearly two days. It is a carrier with the ac outside and the gas furnace in the attic. I ran the unit with the gas on and off with no difference. The house is two stories with two controls that control the unit.

the intake filter is new but i could not find a filter on the furnace
the blower does turn on
the copper pipes coming out of the ac are neither hot nor cold
the air blowing out of the ac feels cool and does not get hot at all
there is no condensation on the unit, the pipes, or in the drip pan upstairs
there is no icy build up anywhere on or around the ac unit
the compressor gets hot to the touch after being on and the capacitor seems to be putting out some serious volts, not sure what the readings should be.

sounds like you need to call in a hvac tech,could be low on freon,,if so it has a leak and needs to be checked out by a pro. don`t run till its checked out
