I removed thermostat without labeling the wires. I have Eight wires, orange, red, green, blue, white, yellow, brown and black. I bought a new thermostat Hunter model # 44860 and I don't know which wire goes where. the letters on this model are Rc/R, RH, G, W1,
W2, W3, Y1, Y2, L, C, O, E, B, H The outside unit is not running, I have two young children and it' s hot in here. can anybody help? My outside unit is from goodman Manufacturing co.

To be totally safe you really should pull your air handler and goodman's access panels and map out where those wires go and to what terminals.

I went up the attic, the air handler is Trane. found the Schematic diagram but I dont know what I am looking at. Called the thermostat people, asked me to find out how wires are connected to the airhandler. Unfortunately they are not coded, they are just attached to the side of the airhandler. They could not help me because the colors were not coded. I tried to attach the wires as per you recommendation, still nothing. Also I only have one red wire but two inlets RH and RC ?

you need a jumper between rh and rc.

if i use jumper between rh and rc do i still use the red wire in rh or rc?

according to information you have given me this is the combination I have come up with
RC/RH Red/(Jumper), W-White, W2-?, Y-Yellow
Y2-?, G-green, C-Brown, O-orange, B-blue
Black is the only color that is left. What do I do with W2 and Y2? Two inlets but only one wire left..

I have a suggestion for you until you can figure out what to do with all of the wires.

Use the red wire to connect to Rh and make sure there is a jumper to Rc.

connect a yellow wire to the Y terminal on the thermostat.

Connect a green wire to the G terminal on the thermostat.

This should make the air conditioner run if the air handler is wired the normal way. If it does not run then match the wires up the same on the low voltage terminal board in the air handler. Plus use a red wire that goes out to the condensing unit and put it on the Y terminal, you should already have a yellow wire on there coming from the thermostat, so that will make you two wires on the Y terminal, now you also need a white wire coming from the outside unit connected to the C or Com terminal on the air handler.
