I noticed our house was not cooling properly. The inside unit was running and air was blowing out, but it wasn't cold. I went outside and the unit was making a constant humming noise, and the fan was not blowing at all. So..I turned everything off..pulled the breaker off and turned it back on. Then I turned the unit back on. I went back outside and the fan was trying to start..it was turning this time but very slowly. So..I just turned it off and am about to raise windows! I am totally new at all this. We just bought this house back in the fall. The house and ac unit is ten years old. Any help or comments at all will be appreciated! Thanks! :-)

It is probably time the unit was professionally serviced but in the mean time I would check the fan capacitor in the outside unit. Usually the capacitor is contained behind the access door on the outside unit.
