How long will it take for me to get my social security medicare taxes refund? I filed the Form 843 and Form 8316 on 22nd March,2009. I know they are processing my case but I was wondering how long it takes to actually receive the refund.

My experience with people who filed that form is it takes about 6 months. The IRS actually should be more forth coming on this timeframe. Hope you get it as soon as possible.

Six months is a BIT extreme; most of my clients get it in about four months, though six months IS possible if you did not provide all the required support documents.

Perhaps Atlanta, I had a student 2 years ago from China who took exactly six months. However, hopefully medsandiego gets it as soon as possible.

I never said six months was not possible. I've had a client's case last TEN months once.

I just said the norm is about four months, but I have also seen Form 843 processed in six weeks.
