I am a promotional model and I received a 1099 misc form. What will I be able to claim on my taxes?

Angela:

You will need to file Schedules C and SE along with Form 1040.

On the Schedule C, you report the income from the Form 1099 and deduct the expenses you incurred while modeling. That can include, but is NOT limited to:
- cell phone costs.
- mileage.
- laptop use.
- expenses unique to modeling.
- travel costs.

After the expenses are deducted, if you still have a net profit, you calculate the 15.3% self-employment tax using the Schedule SE.

This is NOT a tax return for an amateur. Strongly suggest you get professional tax help.
