I have a white rodgers 1F86 -244 thermostat and I believed it is wired incorrectly. I turned on the airconditioning and it would not start. the heat works. there are two wires from wall. one is red, other is blue.how do i hook them up to thermostat panel

Do you have a jumper wire from rh to rc? If so how did the old one hook up?

If the system is both heating and cooling, and controlled by just one thermostat, there should be more than 2 wires...
