Should my mother(new resident) expect 50% of her nursing home room or just settle for whatever her roommate for left for her?

If its double occupancy and they are both paying the same price, then everything is 50/50, or should be. If not, it has to be sorted out with management.

I just got out of about a month's stay in a nursing home, and I would recommend the following for your mother's situation.

There is a director of the facililty and their are nurses and nurse's aides with strong backbones who know how to deal with roommate situations.

Your mother is entitled to a bed, a dresser or whatever, closet space and TV access. Since she is not the first person in the room, she may not get window access and any other potential perks available in that room.

Have management set this up....don't listen to any complaining from your mother...she has to learn how to live with others who are ill.

In fact, if she becomes a favorite of the staff(not a problem, not negative), she will benefit from that lots!
