I have a white rodgers air conditioner thermostat. After noticing it was getting hot in the house, I looked at the thermostat and saw there was no power to it. It is usually lit up with a back light and the numbers are digital. The numbers were dark in the display, but the back light was not on. we played with it a little and it came back on...so we assumed we giggled something, and then it hit us, it must be the batteries. We replaced them..and after a few minutes it came back on and ran. But, after several minutes of run time...it shut off again. We then thought maybe the terminals needed cleaning, so we removed the batteries to clean the terminals, and it came back on...without the batteries in the unit. It still does not have the home down to the entered tempature. Its running again now..but I'm waiting to see if it shuts off again. Any suggestions? Now I'm thinking it may not be the thermostat.....

May be a lose power wire on your furnace. shuting off ond on caused by vibration. or could just be a bad stat.
