My child is a pleaser and will tell me what I want to hear to please me rather than tell the truth. We have spoken so many times about trust. My child is my world and I can't bear the lies any more. They aren't huge lies, but huge enough to me -- like telling me getting great grades in school and then the report comes in an the grades are failing or just; that he cleaned his room for hours and nothing touched, going to help someone move and goes golfing --- etc. It breaks my heart. I am not a nagging mom, but a friend. How do I get him to stop. He knows it's a problem -- he says he just wants to please and make me happy. I tell him over and over that I just want the truth and no matter what it is, it will please me.

Sounds like you have some poor boundaries. If he sees you as more of a friend than a parent he could get codependent and try to be taking care of you. That's not his responsibility. I would suggest reading up on parenting and boundaries. I would also suggest punishing him for lying rather than showing him that you are hurt by it. Good luck.
