The week before Christmas 2008, I had polyps removed from my uterus. I was on my period at the time (2 days into it). Two weeks later I had another period. Then two after that one I got another period. So, now this is almost mid May and I have continued to follow this schedule since the surgery of having a period every two weeks. They don't appear abnormal - regular flow lasting 3 - 4 days. I get the regular symptoms of a period as I always have: increased hunger, weight gain, fatigue, bloating, moody.......
Since my divorce was final in Jan. I no longer have health insurance and can't afford go back to see my OB/GYN physician to let her check on this. I was laid off from my job in Feb. so I didn't have insurance from my job either. Still unemployed so I haven't seen a physician since I don't have insurance and clearly can't afford to pay for a visit. Is this a sign of menopause? I am 48 years old.

I've been having the exact same problem. Had a cervical polyp removed in early February and bled for 8 days following. The doctor said then that if the bleeding continued another day or so, which would exceed the normal recovery timeframe, he'd want to do a uterine biopsy to see why the bleeding was continuing. Since it stopped, I didn't pursue the biopsy. But, this seemed to throw my whole cycle off. Now I'm bleeding every two weeks. Either I get a full period for 5 days, or two days of mid-cycle bleeding (not heavy). Seems like I'm bleeding during ovulation with cramps and fatigue. Got my period again now. Calling the gyno tomorrow. Will probably need a sono and uterine biopsy. I do have some small fibroids, but they've never posed a problem. I am 47 and am wondering if I'm becoming peri-menopausal.
