I'm trying to install a ritetemp thermastat and found the RH wire and W wire had a jumper wire between each other. the instuctions don't have a set up for this and I want to know if this ok for the correct installation. I am installing the new thermostat because my unit keeps icing up and shutting off, with the only the outside unit fan running & cold air comming out. Is this the correct repair?

the jumper should be between rh and rc, if you jump the r to the w the heat will not shut off. if you are freezing up you are either low on freon, or you air filter is cloged.
