My niece is seven years old and my nephew is a few months old. Their parents are going through a custody battle, one of many.
When it goes to court again, I'd like to know the chances of the court dismissing both parents and asking for possible family members to take them on. Both parents aren't the best in the world. Both of them treat the children like toys, arguing over them and using them against each other. I don't think that this is a very enriching environment for the children.
Both the parents have also asked for character references off me for court and obviously what I have to say in court would be bad for both of them.
If the court offered custody rights to me I would take them. What are the chances of this happening:confused:

Unless the children are in danger due to the behavior of their parents I don't see this happening.

If, on the other hand, someone files a report with Child Protective Services - or whatever it's called - there is a possibility that the children will be removed.

Civilfoster, the only legal thing you can do at this point is use your time wisely with these kids when you get it! You don't have any grounds on trying to take these kids, but reason enough to be a good role model while you are with them! :) Good luck!
