I had my left ovary removed in october due to a cancerous cyst. I am still having serious abdominal pain which was going on before the cyst was removed. Doc has put me on birth control pills (yasmin) to see if pain is eased. I have been a complete emotional and physical wreck since about july of 2007 when I had my tubes tied after 3 babies.

most recently I have been experiencing constipation since my surgery in october. But just this past week it has gotten way worse. I started my pills april 25th. and for 6 days now i can't even come close to having a bowel movement. If I do it is extremely painful and it hurts my left abdominal area. I have taken phillips stool softener for 4 days straight now and still nothing. Is this a complication with the birth control or something worse? any info would be greatly appreciated.

hi achampio, I dont know if the birth control pills will effect your bowel movements, but I do know that if you dont get it taken care of soon you will wind up with a lot more problems than you have. Your bowels must move if they have done so completely in six days. Please get your doctor to refer to a proctolgist as soon as possible so he can remove the blockage and you can get back on track again.

Having bowel problems will mess up your whole existence.

Wow, thank you tick. I knew it was bad because I feel so ... yuck. but I just didn't think it was THAT bad yet. I don't have a family doctor, just a OBGYN at the moment. can he refer me?

Yes, thats the reason you feel so 'yuck' you are so jammed up. There is no way to say it nicely. You can ask your oby if they can, but you need it done soon. Good luck
