I have a unit that is a Janitrol and is about 15 yrs old. I just had a new compressor put in but the unit stopped blowing cold air after a day. The man came back and found two leaks that caused all the freon to leak out. He fixed the leaks and put more gas in it. He has not been gone for a couple of hours and now the unit blows cold air for a while and then the fan outside stops blowing and the unit got hot on the outside! I have everything turned off again. I am running out of money and I am still hot! Anybody have any suggestions besides a new unit which I can not afford??:(

Turn the power off and find an oil can and oil the motor, one that old will still have the oil holes on the side of the motor. If this does not help then it is time to replace the motor.

The fan blows for a while and then stops. The unit on the outside gets hot. The first time it did it, I turned the breaker off and back on and it started working again. About 45 minutes, it did it again and my daughter checked the outside unit and it was very hot. I turned everything back off as not to damage what has already been done.
