Hi,

I have already filed my income tax with NY as my work state. Now my employer is updating my work location as NJ and would ne issuing a new W2 form.

I need to know what is the process to file amendment once i receive a new W2 Form with NJ as my work state.

Thanks,
Mayank

Mayank:

You will need to amend BOTH the NY and NJ returns, because (I assume) you claimed tax credits for NY state taxes paid on your NJ return.

This will NOT be an easy amendment, so I recommend you get professional help from someone who routinely prepares returns for both NY and NJ.
