My tax refund was exactly $600 more than it should have been for my federal return. I didn't get that extra $600 last year because I was somebody's dependant, but I am independant this year.

So, was I supposed to get this extra money?

Thank you!

Your tax refund is suppose to be exactly what it was suppose to be, if you filed all the papers correctly.

Yes, you are eligible for recovery rebate. If your tax on your return is $600 or more, your rebate is $600.
Recovery Rebate Credit — If you did not receive the maximum amount for the 2008 economic stimulus payment you may get recovery rebate credit when you file your 2008 tax return.
