This is not a homework question. I am building a boat house and I need to know how heavy a boat I can lift. The question is: I have a steel cross beam spanning 11 feet. It is a 5" x 5" x 3/16" wall HSS beam with 10" x 10" x 1/2" plates welded on each end. Each end is attached with 4 1/2" Grade 5 bolts. What is my max center load capability?
