Hi,

I have filled 1040NR-EZ form for the year 2008. Being from India I took the standard deduction of $5,450.

In VA state tax return from it says that you can take standard deduction only if you took standard deduction in your federal return. I was wondering whether $5,450 deduction count as as standard deduction or itemized deduction in the state tax form.

Thanks

Yes, it DOES count as the standard deduction.
