Does anyone know if this is harmful? It's in a lot of skin lightening soaps.

Sodium tallowate is in most commercially made soaps not just skin lightening soaps. It's basically a form of lye and beef fat. Check the labels of all soaps and you'll see it there.

It's not harmful to most people unless you have extremely sensitive skin.
