My husband works at the UN and we are both on a G4 visa. He doesn't pay taxes but I do. Should we buy a home would I benefit from from tax incentives for home owners since I pay taxes?

Thanks

If you have income in the U.S., you will file nonresident tax return and Form 8843. Yes, you can deduct home mortgage interest as itemized deduction.

This time, Mukata is wrong.

If you are filing as a non-resident alien, you CANNOT deduct mortgage interest and you are NOT eligible for the First-ime Homebuyer's Credit.
