Hi,

I live in NY and won a cash price in Vegas, NV during my visit last year. I received a 1099-MISC with the amount listed under 3. Other Income.

I have never lived in NV. Do i just need to file the 1099-MISC with my Federal and NY State Tax Returns, or do I now need to file a NV State Tax Return?

Many thanks for your help,

I assume you figured out that Nevada has no state income tax, though you DO need to report the money on your NY state tax return.

As for the federal return, you report the Form 1099-MISC income on Line #21 on Form 1040 as "Other Income".
