i have a few questions regarding my taxes. i am on opt and worked for 5 months(Jan08-May08) as a student in SC and full-time (Oct-Dec08) in Al.
I have been filing 1040nr-ez / 8843 + sc1040 (also schedule nr) for the past two years.

Questions:
1. I read online that I will have to pay taxes to both the states. But could you tell me what income should I mention in the state forms. ( For eg. assume I earned $s in SC and $a in Alabama)

2. If I use taxact it defaults and files 1040. The tax amount is the same as when I manually calculated using the 1040nrez form. But there was one exception.
I got $600 more when I used taxact because it gave me 'recoverable rebate credit' which the nr-ez form does not have.

So what do you advise me to do?

thanks in advance.

1. Income earned while is SC, is reported to SC.
Income earned while in Alabama is reported to Alabama.
2. May be some one else can answer this.

Thanks for the response MukatA.

I'd appreciate if someone else could help me with question 2.
