Does a shower on a concrete basement floor need a trap? If so how do I install it?
Thanks

Hi kahosic...

Yes... all plumbing fixtures require a trap (and a vent).

If shower is present then there will probably already be a trap installed UNDERGROUND.

If new shower and you only see a pipe above the ground you will need to remove the cap (if present) and pour some water into the drain (1/2 gallon). If water remains after you poured the water (use flashlight to shine down pipe) then there is a ptrap already present and you can install the shower without concern.

If no water remains in the pipe then you will need to plan on chopping out some concrete and dig some of the dirt under that away so you can install a ptrap underground.

Let me know if you have questions...
