Hi all,

I have a York Stellar, model # P3CCD08N04501A I think its a early 90's model. I have had an issue with it short cycling during heating, I have watched the sequence of events, here is what i see.
1) Tstat calls for heat, usually it is very cold in the house due to no heating
2) inducer runs
3) HSI glows, about 35 sec
4) 30 sec in, gas valve actuates
5) flame on, stays on
6) about 70 to 90 sec later blower fan comes on
7) heat blows from registers for about 5 min, usually enough to raise temp in house by 1 or 2 degrees F
8) gas valve shuts off
9) HSI tries to reignite, gas valve will not actuate
10) control attempts 2 more times then control led flashes continuously
11) I turn power off and let it sit for at least 30 min, then try again, same sequence

I had a service repairman come out and had tested the flame sensor and HSI. He said that they checked out fine. I removed the flame sensor and cleaned, same problem.
The control P# White Rodgers 50E47-070
fan limit P# L4064Y1433 Honeywell has an internal by metal heater, no adjustment for fan on, just fan off and high cutout set around 200F
Gas valve P# 36E01 24VAC 1/2 X 1/2

When i tested the voltage during the 3 attempts before control lockout, control never sent voltage to the gas valve, (even though HSI was on) i had voltage at the press switch and across the flame rollout switch, i had 24VAC at the control on terminal TH during the failed retries. not sure what is happening, if i try to cycle the power to reset it wont work 3 attemp and fail, but if turn power off for at least 30 min it will refire with same results as list above.

Thanks for any help you can provide

Based on the troubleshooting you have performed (not bad!) and the info you have given, it sounds very much like a faulty ignition module (fails to power gas control consistently). If I were performing this service call, executed the troubleshooting steps that you did, and observed the same actions that you did, I would replace the module.

Thanks for answering my question so quickly.
I had ordered the control module P# IGM 50E47A, i installed it yesterday and everything is working normal now, Thanks for your help.

I need your crystal ball KC. I was thinking pressure switch, when they said they had 24v across it and the flame rollout, when there should be no voltage across it. Guess they were testing to a ground, in and out. Threw me off.

deport, i wish every one that asked a question here were as informative as you. Great job. And the best part is, you already had the part on order, knowing that most likely this was the problem. I see you are a new member, hope you stick around and use the sight. Maybe you could help some other folks out.

thank you, I appreciate the welcome
I was testing to ground for the 24 vac, I knew by looking at the schematic that the components in the circuit have to be satisfied in order for there to be voltage at the control module i.e. press switch, flame rollout, ls1, ls2. while its trying to run. So i sat down in front of this thing for about 4 hours till i was just sick of it. LOL
I didn't order the module till i read KC's reply, got it second day air. You know i just stumbled across this forum and i couldent beleve how informative and how quick the response were, very nice forum. I hope to become a reguler here and help out where i can

I'll give you my endorsement for the up-and-coming member of the week award. You made our part easy, I'm guessing that you took the time to read some other threads and figured out how to help us help you. Good job. P.S. to MGD77 The crystal ball is on the fritz, but I got some good help on one of the other repair advice forums and the parts are ordered.;)
