i have a rheem classic xiii imperial heating/air pump. i keep my thermostat on 68 degrees. when the room reaches the desire temperature the blower keeps on blowing air out...all night, it changes from hot to cold. the unit is near my bedroom window and i hear it come on and it stays on for about 2 minutes and than goes off. my electric bill is out of the world and i know it has something to do with that unit. please help.

Heating/air pump...do you mean "heat pump"? If the outdoor unit is short-cycling, it won't be capable of satisfying the 1st stage demand of the thermostat, which will in turn keep the blower running continuously. The 2nd stage will cycle to keep the room temperature within a couple of degrees of the thermostat setpoint. Try this: Set thermostat system selector to emergency mode for a few hours. Does the blower cycle on/off with the heating now? If so, the outdoor unit is consuming power without providing any worthwhile heating, thus the high electric bills. Seek a qualified pro to check out the system.
