I am 77 year old and work part time earning around 6,000 a year.

I am collecting social security also.

The above taxes are taken out of my pay every week.

If I am disabled and cannot work or if I am layed off will I collect on the above.

If not, why are they taken out.

SDI - State Disability Insurance
SUI - State Unemployment Insurance

About the benefits you will get by paying these amount, check at your state's web site.

You probably ARE eligible for the Unemployment Insurance.

Disability insurance is another matter, entirely. I would call the state agency that administers this program and ASK!
