Hello I have a question I'm claiming my mother as a dependent and I'm trying to see if I'm able to get the Recovery Rebate Credit this year. My husband and I have SS, but she has an ITIN. I know for a fact that somebody got the stimulus check last year same case but he did it with his father; also with an ITIN Number.
So can I get it? the reason i'm asking is because i'm trying to do the taxes my self and people are telling that i cannot get the Recovery reabate? Thank you

You may be eligible for a stimulus rebate check, asuming you were not eligible last year. Both you and your husband must have SS numbers, and any qualifying children that are to be included in the calculation must also have valid SS numbers. Your mother is not a qualifying child, so it doesn't matter whether she has a SS number or an ITIN - the fact that she may be your dependent does not affect the amount of the stimulus rebate you are eligible for.
