Here's the deal - I need to file my taxes because I am done with being this broke and am going back to school (health prof). I'm just lost how to file taxes for this situation:
I spent 6 months or more helping my mom get her company started and she didn't pay me but fed me, that kind of thing.
The only other job I had was painting a guys house. He paid me directly. I used that money to move to NC. That was about $1500 total.
I am still actively (very) looking for work, on food stamps at this point.
How do I deal with this?
Thanks so much!

you earned 1500 dollars as unreported income, so you file. This is self employed income working as a contractor.

$1500 is self employed income. You MUST file tax return if your self employed income is $400 or more. You will report your income and expenses on schedule C or C-EZ (Form 1040). This income is subject to SE tax at 15.3%.
