Hi,

This is my situation. During my relocation from M'sia to California in Jan-16-2008, my company is offering a package which helping me to transport and storage of household goods and personal effects. However, I did not utilize this package. Hence, the company did not pay for any transportation of household. I accepted a one month lodging and a car rental for 45 days.

Questions:
1. Am i eligible to file Form 3903?
2. When filling Form 3909, do i have to present the reciept of the amount i paid for pack, crate and move household goods and personal effects? As i did not keep a copy of the receipt.
3. Should i calculatethe expenses using mileague at rate of 19cents/mile (27cents/mile)?

1) Yes.

2) No, but keep the receipts available in case the IRS requests proof of the expenditures.

3) Use 19 cents if before 1 July 2008; use 27 cents for AFTER 30 June 2008.
