Stuart Z Jan 27, 2009, 09:20 PM Just curious, I see that you (talaniman) give a lot of advice, but never asks questions. I am not trying to be confrontational, but it says you are an "expert". Are you in a relationship? What sort of problems have you had?
talaniman Jan 30, 2009, 05:02 AM A fair question, I am an older guy (55), married more than 3 decades, and have a wealth of experience with dating, being dumped, dumping, and moving on thru many life experiences.
Most of my questions are in "Jokes and Humor"
Fr_Chuck Jan 30, 2009, 05:50 AM
I started to delete the question since to be honest an expert does not have to ask question, I ask almost no questions ever. There is no requirement the requirement is in answering and helping people.
It also means that over months and answering 1000's of questions they have proved thier knowledge of an area and have been asked specificly to be an expert.
I am somewhat actuay bothered by the question to be frank, that a new poster with 6 posts of date and no time on the board would question one of the better experts on the board.
Romefalls19 Jan 30, 2009, 05:52 AM I agree with FR_Chuck, Tal has been one of the best motivators on this relationship board. He doesn't give you any slack or bullsh*t about "love will conquer all" theories. He is straight to the point with all of his answers and has provided so much insightful responses that I look forward to reading every response he gives.
Maybe one day, I can take the reins from him and be an expert on the relationship forum(Just kidding)
Fr_Chuck Jan 30, 2009, 05:56 AM Of course I have two wives who have passed away and another who just went away, So perhaps I know everything not to do in a reationship.
But to be honest alot of my failures in relationships gives me an insight in couseling others when I do a marriage couseling ( yes I really do that in real life for those that it scares)
But we all have been in or been around relationships so all of us have points of views that may differ but together it gives a perceptive on a relationship
kctiger Jan 30, 2009, 06:07 AM I was under the impression that the God's put forth Tal on this Earth to bless us with his overwhelming knowledge and professions of what "love" truly is. And, as he speaketh the truth on this board, we shall listen, carry forth his message, and let the heavens rain down a ray of light onto our feable lives...
I feel a need everyday to sacrafice something to the God of Relationships...Talaniman...so, Tal, "This Bud's for You!"
zeeniee Jan 30, 2009, 06:26 AM Dear Stuart Z,
I have not been on this site for very long- but i was told that Tal is an angel send from above to keep an eye on us all....when things get all messy... right Tal??
talaniman Jan 30, 2009, 06:42 AM Oh wow, my head is getting big, and its not from a BUD either.
Thanks for the kind words, and I can understand why the poster wants more info, as I have no bio in which to view my resume.
Its all pretty much life experience, and thru a lot of volunteer work with churches and other organizations, I have a lot of experience guiding people thru some hard, and confusing times, most of which I can speak on personally.
Needless to say its very rewarding, and humbling, if not financially, but spiritually, when you have shed a little light on someones darkness, and confusion.
Thanks again for the kind words.
HistorianChick Jan 30, 2009, 06:49 AM I agree, Tal is heaven-sent, and needs to be knighted.
So, by the power vested in me (said power comes from being Jessica Rabbit..... come on!), I now dub you, Sir Tal. Kneel before me. *tap* *tap*. Rise, thou great Sir Tal.
Long may you reign over your humble kingdom, known as Relationship Forumville.
We salute you, Oh Great One. :D
slapshot_oi Jan 30, 2009, 06:56 AM I am somewhat actuay bothered by the question to be frank, that a new poster with 6 posts of date and no time on the board would question one of the better experts on the board.
I totally disagree, everyone has a right to know why an expert is an expert. I've been here for a year and never knew. Talaniman himself even agrees.
What you should do is make this thread sticky.
kaitou Jan 30, 2009, 07:01 AM Well, i have to admit, I didn't understand Tal's comment to my post, when i first got here...
But now, i really appreciate what he said. It makes a lot more sense now :)!! Thank you Tal, you're the best!
High Max Jan 30, 2009, 07:42 AM I just think he was asking out of curiosity, not to be mean or insulting to Tal. Give him a break. :)
GirlWSlingshot Jan 30, 2009, 09:23 AM While I occasionally chafe at his "bedside manner", Tal's advice hits the mark. I don't know him so I couldn't vouch for his personal credentials, but the proof's in the pudding so to speak. He offers excellent insight and seems to have a level head on his shoulders.
Fr_Chuck Jan 30, 2009, 09:47 AM It is just we get alot of people ( always new ones) that come challenging people as to why they are a expert, to be honest I have never seen many that were inocent, perhaps this one is. Most ended up as attacks on that expert and the OP ends up being banned.
So when you see it starting, you tend to watch it more closely
Stuart Z Jan 30, 2009, 02:54 PM Like I said in the question I wasn't trying to be insulting-it was an honest question. There are so many different views to each question I was just curious as to what one of the experts have been through. I apologize if i offended anyone.
roxypox Jan 30, 2009, 04:33 PM i think its a fair question as well and it read it as an attack, i've wondered since i joined, but guessed it was about board experience and maybe there is like a secret ahmd council or something (lol just kidding)
But Tal, you do give great advice, and i do appreciate your honesty and I like that straightforward-no bs type of way of putting it out there ;)
ScottGem Jan 30, 2009, 04:46 PM I totally disagree, everyone has a right to know why an expert is an expert. I've been here for a year and never knew. Talaniman himself even agrees.
And we tell them in the FAQs:
Ask Me Help Desk - FAQ: Other Forum Features (http://www.askmehelpdesk.com/faq.php?faq=vb_board_usage#faq_expert)
Like I said in the question I wasn't trying to be insulting-it was an honest question. There are so many different views to each question I was just curious as to what one of the experts have been through. I apologize if i offended anyone.
It might help if you browse around the site a bit before you ask questions like that. You might have determined that a better place to post this question is in the Forum Help or Feedback (where I moved this to) forums. You might have also found the FAQ I linked to which explains how Experts are chosen.
friend4u178 Feb 2, 2009, 06:18 PM I think you only need to read Tal's posts to realise why he's an Expert. In my opinion he can say in one sentence what the rest of us need a paragraph to say.
I know I myself have learnt a hell of a lot from reading his posts and I'm glad someone asked this so I can thank him personally.
So thanks Tal , your a legend in my eyes :)
starbuck8 Feb 2, 2009, 08:49 PM Tal's advice and experience speak for themselves! Friend4u is right. Tal can say in one sentence, what takes others much longer to say what they mean. I, for instance will write several paragraphs, and Tal will come along...and I just say....damn, why are my fingers so sore from typing? He just summed it up! Cut that out Tal...LOL! Just jokin buddy! So in a nutshell, Tal's advice and experience says it all, and he teaches the rest of us that things aren't always as complicated as they may seem. ;)
Altenweg Feb 2, 2009, 08:56 PM I have to say that Tal is the best. He doesn't sugar coat things, he shoots straight from the hip, he's honest, caring and right on target. He's an all around wonderful guy.
As for being an expert. Well, we're all an expert in something, aren't we? The experts on this board have proven their knowledge in their specific forum.
We get alot of people here that think that their opinion is written in stone, or they just want to voice their opinion, no matter what the subject. That can be harmful.
This site is one of the best, if not the best. Why? Because we really care about the answers we give.
I'm actually glad this thread was started, gives us all a chance to let Tal know how much he's appreciated. :)
MarkwithaK Feb 2, 2009, 09:06 PM While I don't know the man personally he must know what he is talking about seeing as how he is from NW Indiana! :D

Stringer Feb 3, 2009, 06:15 AM I just wanted to add that Tal has always hit the bull's eye in my opinion.
Some with a lot of experience, good or bad haven't been able to stand back and evaluate the situation without bias. Tal has the gift of clear insight.
kctiger Feb 3, 2009, 06:20 AM Alright, alright. We all know Tal is a God, but please...if we give him anymore props his head will be too big to allow his fingers to type on here! (you da man Tal)
Carry on...
startover22 Feb 3, 2009, 07:35 AM Tal, you most definitely are a fave around here. One of mine too;) You are a very meaningful asset to this site. Thank you for taking all the time you take to post your responses. Hugs!
talaniman Feb 3, 2009, 08:09 AM Thanks all!!:) The next sound you hear, is the wife sticking her finger in my ear :D in an effort to deflate my growing head, and swelling ego!!!:oPSTTTTTTTTT!!

HistorianChick Feb 3, 2009, 03:46 PM I have to admit... a greenie from Tal is like the Holy Grail!
Tal's greenies = coveted, prized possessions fit to be fought for to the verbal death! ;)
Altenweg Feb 3, 2009, 03:52 PM You can't have my Tal greenies, I love them! :)
HistorianChick Feb 3, 2009, 03:54 PM I love, love, LOVE my Tal greenies.

Ditto
Romefalls19 Feb 3, 2009, 03:59 PM I will admit, getting a greenie from tal is a definite accomplish for myself.
I'll rub it in, I have a PM from Tal telling me one of the posts I did was really good. I still have that PM, so whenever I think that I don't help people on this forum, it's there to remind me.
Altenweg Feb 3, 2009, 04:01 PM You got a PM Rome? How much you want for it? Name your price! I have a few greenies that are all yours if I get the PM. :)
Of course, they're not Tal greenies, but greenies none the less. :)
Stringer Feb 3, 2009, 04:19 PM Aaahhhh...excuse me...heeeeyy..I never got a greenie from Tal (sigh) :(
Altenweg Feb 3, 2009, 04:27 PM Aw, Stringer, it's okay, maybe one day you will. :)

SAB123 Feb 4, 2009, 08:02 AM I came across this site by accident a few years ago. And in my eyes Tal is an expert. Tal and most of the experts here helped me get thru the worst pain ever a break up. Like another poster said read his answers that should make it clear that he is an expert. Thanks TAL.
Stringer Feb 4, 2009, 08:10 AM Disappointed.......:( I went back and researched all my greenies twice to see if I ever got one from Tal......nope.
kctiger Feb 4, 2009, 08:13 AM I will say that when Tal offered to be my friend, I immediately felt a sense of accomplishment on here. My work had thus been validated!!!
Like I said Tal, "This bud is for you!"
starbuck8 Feb 4, 2009, 08:38 AM Disappointed.......:( I went back and researched all my greenies twice to see if I ever got one from Tal......nope.

Altenweg Feb 4, 2009, 08:43 AM Stringer, I've given you greenies, I know they're not as good as Tal greenies, but they're something.
Don't be sad, maybe one day you'll get one. Until then, this greenie is for you.
:D
Romefalls19 Feb 4, 2009, 08:46 AM I appreciate greenies from everyone! I can't speak for everyone else, but when I get a greenie it makes me feel like I am helping someone out. This site helped me a great deal when my ex broke up with me. Through many posts, questions and everything on this board it showed me the light and realized I was better off without her. Tal doesn't sugar coat ANYTHING! And at first you think he's an arse, but after you heal, you realize he was right all along and hat you needed that tough love.
kctiger Feb 4, 2009, 08:47 AM Yeah, I will take the greenies where I can get them. To know that my advice was truly helpful, that is what makes them special. How about a round of greenies, on Tal!
Altenweg Feb 4, 2009, 08:49 AM Tal is the love guru. I love his posts, how he phrases things and the fact that he never allows you to put on your rose colored glasses. Nope, you must face the light shining right in your eyes! ;)
I wonder how much I could get for my Tal greenies. Anyone want to offer an opening bid? Stringer? ;)
artlady Feb 4, 2009, 08:54 AM Tal is an expert because he speaks from experience and he has heart.
After he has answered a question, there is usually nothing left to add.He hits it on the head every time!
