My blower motor randomly will not work. If it is not working I can go down and spin the fan just slightly and it kicks on. Sometimes it will stay good for a week sometimes it stops again in a 24 hours. Is the motor bad? When it's on it runs fine.

Would adjusting the timing of what temperature the fan is activated help? Is the motor just getting old? maybe only has 2-3 years on it. One contractor said I need more return air. After he told me that could be the problem I opened the access panel to allow more airflow and not strain the motor so much. The motor still sticks. Any thoughts.

The motor capacitor could be bad or it could also be the motor.

If you replace the motor buy a new capacitor for the new motor. Do Not use the old capacitor over with the new motor.

Playing with the temperature settings on the fan control is not going to make the motor start better.
