I have installed a goodman 3 ton a/c unit and was told I need to install two 30 amp breakers one for heat and one for the a/c. do I run one leg to a/c and one to the heat strips. thanks

Read the instructions that came with the unit for the exact number. Different units require different numbers of breakers and different sizes. What you are told does not mean that is what the unit takes for sure.

are you installing a package unit with heat and air in one package or a split system with air condenser outside and furnace inside,,,if so is the question about air only or for both units?

Its a 3 ton package with the comperssor and heat unit outside. It has heat strips. I was told it needs a 30 amp breaker for both the heat and a/c

you still need to read the instructions,,,,,its according to how many heat strips you are running and how far to the main box as to how many amps you need in a breaker,,also as to what size wire needed,,,,again read the papers
