I am engaged to be married as soon as I get my Visa for the USA.
My husband to be is American and like I said we will be married there..

He wants to adopt my 10 year old son so we can all be a proper family. My question is can he do this as soon as we are married, or will we have to wait until we have our USA residency?
My sons biological father is "unknown"( not a pleasant situation)- can not trace him and so is obviously not on the birth certificate.

And how do I start?

Many Thanks for any advise in advance.

Because this involves (I think I read correctly) a child with a different citizenship than American, you will need to contact a family law attorney to find out what the citizenship and wait requirements are.

International adoption is something that seems to vary from country to country, so I would definitely contact an attorney to be SURE you are doing it correctly.
