Hi, I'm new, so I'm sorry if I confuse anyone with my question, or if its too long. Here it goes... Feb 1 2008 I had to terminate my pregnancy 22 weeks in. Our son was in complete kidney failure and had no amniotic fluid left because he couldn't urinate, valve grew backwards in his urethra. Two months later I went for my follow up with my OBGYN (he's not the same doctor who performed the termination). It was supposed to be a check up to make sure everything was ok, healing correctly, and too see if I can still have children. The baby we lost would have been our first. All he did was push on my stomach a few times and look inside quick, when I say quick I mean less than 5 seconds. He told me everything was good and I could leave. Now were ready to start trying again, but I have such a bad feeling that something went wrong during the surgery given how far along I was, and the fact that there was no fluid. I've tried calling to get an appointment with my OBGYN again, but I keep getting told they'll have to call me back, I'm also over due for a pap-smear, so you would think they would want me to come in. I've strongly considered getting a new OBGYN, but I need to go to one who specializes in high risk pregnancies as I've been a type 1 diabetic since I was 5, I'm 29 now, and on a pump. There's only 1 other high risk doctor within a 2 hour radius of me, and he's not taking new patients. So here's what I'm wondering... Has anyone who's had a late term termination had success conceiving later? Anyone have any experience with this kind of thing? Should I just trust what my doctor told me? Even though if I do become pregnant again, I'll be able to get into see him. Or should I try to go to one of the doctor's farther away even though I was told that once you're in the 9th month you can't travel by car for more than an hour, so should I get to that point, I won't be able to see the doctor anyway. Is this another reason they tell diabetics wanting to have children to be careful? In addition to all the medical stuff, its really stressful trying to find someone who will care for you. Any info or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
