I have four wires coming out of the wall and they are red, yellow, black and orange. Where do they go verses the rh, rc, w, y and g that comes with the thermostat?

Question: How did the situation evolve from "I have a thermostat on the wall" to "I have four wires coming out of the wall"? Did you note the terminal designations of the supposed previous thermostat? If not, the wiring will have to be checked at the equipment connections to determine the function for each color.

go to the furnace,,,trace the thermostat wires, going into the furnace,,,each colored wire goes to a desinated post,,,,the post on tstat must match where they are connected to tstat,,,,without being there this about the best we can do,,,,,,you realy should have labeled the wires before removing old stat
