My coleman furnace will ignite and run for a few minutes and then the flame will go out and will kick on several times. It flashes five times. The furnace says a gas valve energized with no call for heat. What does this mean and how do I fix the problem Thank you

If flame current is present on the sensing circuit at an inappropriate time, the control will assume it is due to a gas valve not closing when it should. This particular problem has great potential to get sticky and expensive for the DIY'er who may not know what to look for, and start replacing parts without proper troubleshooting. An experienced pro will be able to spot any "deception" on the part of the self-diagnostics.
