I have an older coleman evcon oil furnace that ran fine until today. It still runs but the smoke exiting the chimney is pure black and sooty. Would this be an indication it's not getting enough air or maybe getting too much oil? Dont have any experience with oil furnaces. Thanks, Ken

Could be any number of things, but most likely the nozzle is fouled and not misting the fuel properly, and/or the flame head is gunked up and spoiling the swirl of the primary air.

I agree. I'd say it's time for a tune-up.

No, but I was around some people today who did. The power rubbed off on me.
