Water to bathroom sink and toilet works. Water to shower does not. It is a delta single handle fixture. I removed the handle and turned bathroom water valve back on and not a drop came out. This is the second time it has happened in two weeks. Last time it was only the hot water that didn't work. Last time I removed the handle ensured there was nothing blocking, put it back together turned the water back on and it worked. Only cold at first then hot.

Hey Ranger:

Shut the water supply OFF to the shower valve, and then remove the handle and the stem/cartridge asssmebly from the valve itself. Once the guts are removed you want to investigate the cartridge/washers, etc. and see if anything is obviously clogging the valve. If nothing obvious then I would have you PULSE the water on/off a couple times to clear the lines of sediment/debris. Then carefully reassemble the parts/valve, install handle and then turn water supply back on. If this fixed it great... if not then you will most likely need to purchase a new cartridge for the unit and repeat the steps above.

Most plumbing supply houses carry Delta repair parts... be sure to bring the part you want replaced to expedite the job at hand... ;)

My unit is exactly like the pic on the right with parts 1-6. I completely removed the entire unit turn the water supply line back on and nothing.

If unit is exactly like the unit on right then the two slotted heads are shutoffs. For fun tighten them in and then unscrew them back out.. see if that restores anything. Shutoffs in the valve may need to be removed and cleaned.

You may also have check valves in your setup... would be another larger screw in place or alongside the slotted heads... but I doubt it. If these were present then they could also be clogged...

Trouble after that is that you are saying BOTH hot and cold are down... that is almost impossible as the only common here is the valve body.

Still no water. Could my pipe is frozen. The night before this happened it was 14 degrees below zero and only got to 8 degrees yesterday and is currently 12 degrees. My house is on a slab. It still wouldn't explane why the hot water stopped working two weeks ago.

That is only thing that makes sense here... :)

First, be sure the parts are back in the valve and all is connected and wate is ON. Then, and this is important, open the shower valve to WARM setting on the valve.

Then take a paint removal heat gun and stick it in the space the shower valve is in to begin unfreezing. This should be safe as long as you keep your eyes on things, especially if you have a fiberglass or acrylic shower surround.

Anyway, the whole trick to thawing a pipe is to be sure the valve remains OPEN while thawing so the steam generated inside the pipe has someplace to expand out from. If pipes are closed off pipes don't thaw.

Anyway, once you begin to see a trickle it should not take long for the pipes to free themselves up... will probably only happen one at a time, so plan on thawing one and then continuing on the other.

You should also be prepared to find a BURST PIPE behind there. Fact is that when a pipe freezes sometimes the pipes break and you won't know about it until you have unfrozen them... so be prepared to shut the water down pretty fast... just in case.. ;)

Finally, after restoring water you can go through the steps outlined above or just replace the seats and springs to start with... that should get this resolved all in all...

I have same problem no water is coming out when I turn faucet on

Tried a hair dryer in place of heat gun. Whithin a couple of minutes water was flowing and no broken pipes.
