My problem is I have a water cooled heat pump in the ceiling and what happens is the compressor makes a winding noise when turned on. I put my gauges on to check the pressures, and the low side read 50 psi, and the high side read 10 psi. Could the compressor be faulty or the solenoid to the reversing valve be out?

Thanks.

hard to say but typically if the solenoid is out it will just run in heat or cool mode depending on if B or O is energized. most models energize O in cooling mode and the valve isn't energized at all during heat. so the winding noise probably isn't the valve.
