Hello,

I hopefully have a quick question here. I have a fireplace that is currently controlled by a pretty basic mercury thermostat (only has 2 wire connectors - yellow & black), and I would like to replace it with a digital thermostat. The new thermostat is a White Rodgers 1E78-144. It has the following connections.

RC ----
G |
RH ----
W
Y
O
B

*The RC and the RH have a wire connecting the two.

I have read another thread that has the answer for a different thermostat, and the main difference is, his thermostat had the W, O and B connections all in one. Also, there was no mention of having the RC and RH connectors joined.

I just need to know where the yellow and the black wires connect to. Any help would be great. Thanks alot.
