I am attempting to replace old Honeywell w/new Hunter (44360). The existing thermostat has six wires (White, Green, Blue, Black, Red & Yellow), but the new thermostat doesn't accept all these wires. The Hunter instruction state that the heat pump MUST be single stage; is that part of my problem? How can I tell if mine is single or multi-stage.

If you have a 2 stage heat system I believe you have the wrong thermostat.

You will have a electric furnace and a heat pump unit outside.
