What causes the dirty socks smell coming from the air conditioning vents?
How do you correct it?
Is is dangerous to your health?

Bacteria, mold,etc are the usual causes.

I am not a doctor but I am sure it is not good for you.

Usually the A/C coil inside the unit needs to be cleaned. This usually takes a trip from a HVAC specialist since many times you have to open the sheetmetal to get to the bottom of the coil where the dirt is that is causing the problem.

HVAC companys have a special indoor chemical that has a foaming action that many times will penetrate the coil quite well and clear up the problem on one cleaning.
