i have a intertherm central air unit that will not come on. when i switch the thermostat to heat/cool nothing happens. i don't hear no clicks and the fans inside or outside will not come on. Nothing works. i have already checked everything i know like breakers, fuses, and powersource. everything seems to be okay because when i press the contactor in with my screw driver the unit turns on. what would cause both fans to not work. i'm thinking a relay to pull in the contactor is bad but don't know where it would be located and don't know how it looks like. can a bad relay cause both fans and the unit not to turn on? please help!

I would check your thermostat first.

does the system work on heat?

i have already checked my thermostat, everything looks good. i did not see any fuses and the wire are good/ in tact and not loose.

do you have low voltage power? like from the transformer to the tstat?,,,did you just look at the tstat ? or did you run a test by bypassing the tstat and see if the furnace will work,,do you have a meter to check the voltage? did you tell us what kinda furnace you had? gas?electric?,,the furnace has to have power (low) and High )voltage for the a/c to work

how do you bypass the thermostat to get the unit to work. what wires do i need to put together etc. where exactly do i need to put my leads to check for low/high voltage?

start by telling us what color wires you have at the thermostat, we can then tell you which to jump. If you push in the contacter on the ouside unit and it come on , this only tell us that you have 240v to the outside unit. Sounds like you have a 24v problem, but thats just a guess. Lets start at the thermostat, and move on from there. A thermostat may look fine and still be faulty. Hopes this gets you a start. Let us know what you find.

thanks for the help everyone, i finally got the unit to work today by doubled checking everything. Turn all the breakers off and on and got really lucky and the system started working again. i don't know why it didn't work the first time i did it, but it's fix now, i hope. knock on wood!!!!!
