i have to down to the basement and manuel turn the blower on it will not go on on auto only manuel what do you think is wrong thanks tboy56

We need more info to help. Is it a gas furnace or heat pump? How old is the system and what brand is it?

its a janitrol furnace and a gas furnace and its between 20 and 30 yrs old

Its hard to say with what little info that is given. But a stab in the dark would make me want to look at the combination fan limit control. If your blower will run in the on position and your heat will work with the thermostat in the on position. You have a bad wire going to the blower(if it uses more than one speed) or your heat blower control is bad----Blower relay, fan/limit control, control board and so on.

get it checked out by a professional,,I would be afraid to use a 30 year old gas furnace,without getting it checked out,it could be dangerous and in need of replacement
